Partner Stations See Increase in Calls/Decisions

Photo of two kids

Recently our Indonesian partner attempted to measure their ministry effectiveness after adding 12 radio stations. They estimate the number of people coming to Christ has grown from 30 to 200 decisions per staff member yearly! From the approximately 900 messages/calls received daily by the stations we know that radio is bringing healing, counsel and salvation to the lives of listeners. One station in a city of 300,000 receives more calls than any other phone number in the city so the phone company provided a free telephone line!

Mission Work Close to Home

What a blessing it was to have nine volunteers give a week of their time to help us at the Engineering Center. Seven of the men came from South Church in Lansing, Michigan, one from Colorado and one from Virginia.

Moving equipment into the new shop area

The main objective was to move the machine shop from our main building to an adjacent building. Along with the move, the volunteers built a large dividing wall between the new shop and the storage room. This will allow a big savings for HCJB in future utility costs.

The volunteers worked safely throughout the week and especially enjoyed living with missionary families. They also found out through daily experience that missionary wives are known for their great cooking.

If you or your church would be interested in volunteering for mission projects, please give us a call at (574) 970-4252.

Full Month for Dan

The month of June was full of ministry training for Dan.

Technical discussion during Harvest Field antenna seminar
  • The first of June the HCJB World Radio Engineering Center hosted the Harvest Field Antenna Seminar with 35 attendees from within HCJB, other Christian radio broadcasters, and Taylor University. This seminar helped equip these Christian groups to design and install radio antennas for our partner broadcasters.
  • The last day of antenna seminar, Dan left for the International Conference on Computing and Mission, ICCM, at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. This annual conference is a gathering of missionaries and mission-minded individuals who meet together to help each other meet the technical challenges within the mission organizations. It is also a good time of spiritual fellowship and encouragement among Christian computer geeks.
  • Immediately after the ICCM conference, fourteen of us involved in computer and information services at HCJB World Radio, met together in Elkhart for four days to work on technical issues confronting the mission. Those of us at the HCJB IT meetings came from the Ecuador, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the U.S. to plan how we can work together in the coming year to further God's Kingdom.
  • Finally during the last week of June, Dan set up the facilities and coordinated a Microsoft Office 2003 Training Workshop. A professional trainer from a church in Holland, Michigan generously donated her time to train us how to better use our software in our work for the Lord.

Family News

Jenny Works with Word of Life in Mexico

Because of the training she has received at the Bible institute in Argentina, Jenny was privileged to spend the month of July in southern Mexico assisting at a summer camp. She went to aid a small ministry that had never been able to run a camp before because of lack of staff. She had the joy of leading a camper to Christ and then discipling her during the week. She now returns to school to finish her last semester in Argentina.

Financial Update

We praise the Lord for several first-time gifts for our ministry during the months of May and June. We are still lacking financial support and have requested a reduction in our monthly living allowance in order to try get our ministry account out of the red.

Monthly support still needed: approximately $950

Thank you!

Our most sincere thanks goes out to all who are faithful in their financial and prayer support for our ministry. We regard each one as a vital partner in Heralding Christ Jesus’ Blessings around the world.
