ARIEL is on the Air!
On January 12, the first test unit of the ARIEL radio automation system was installed at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. The students who operate the campus radio station will be helping us
check for "bugs" in the software.
Dan working on an ARIEL computer
Dan and his team of apprentices have been developing and designing this system to simplify the process of operating a local FM radio station. When all is completed, Christians who have a passion
to share Christ with their communities will be able to use radio to accomplish this goal even though they lack advanced technical skills.
Lord willing, we will be able to begin installing complete systems in partner stations this summer. Inquiries from Poland and South America have already been received.
Family News
Jenny with Argentina friends
Jenny(19) is a student at the Word of Life Bible Institute in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She came home for the month of December and returned in January to help with summer camp
before classes begin again in April. She is having a great time and loves the Latin American culture.
Jenny has been studying Spanish language the first semester and also has Bible classes in English. In March the Spanish language classes will end, and she will be taking Bible classes in
Spanish.
Her future plans are to study in Argentina until December and then return to the U.S. to attend a Christian college.
Emily with judges and prize rabbit
Emily (17) is raising Palomino rabbits along with her Florida Whites, and won Best of Show at a local 4-H rabbit show. Dan goes along with Emily to rabbit shows on weekends. (He
still has some of the farm in him and enjoys the rabbits.)
Emily also keeps busy studying diligently for her school classes and practicing for the girls' softball team. She is doing well and has only one more year of high school left.
John singing in the Indiana All-state Choir
In January John (14) sang in the Indiana all-state mixed choir in Indianapolis. He is taking tuba lessons from a retired college professor and received a first-place rating for
tuba at the Indiana State School Music Association contest.
John has also joined the 4-H shooting club and earned enough money over seven months to buy his own 12-gauge shotgun. He enjoys shooting clay pigeons, but hunting will have to wait until Fall.
Barb continues to work as the librarian at Elkhart Baptist Christian School where Emily and John attend. She also takes turns helping to plan Sunday morning services at our
church.
Dan has plenty of work at the HCJB World Radio Engineering Center leading the ARIEL team which includes 4 young engineers. Supporting the Engineering Center network of fifty plus
computers also takes a lot of his time. However, even that experience may be used in Christian broadcasting as we use the Internet to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ
Pray that each of our family will follow the Lord's leading. Pray that our children would pursue the Lord's will in choosing colleges and careers. Pray that we (Dan and Barb) will diligently seek
to serve the Lord with our lives also.
Thank you for your faithful prayer and financial support for our ministry. Our mission account ended the year in the black because of you who help us reach others with Christian
radio. May the Lord bless you as you serve Him.
